Fallow Class

Over the last few weeks Fallow class have had a big focus on instructions. We have been learning about all the different techniques to writing really good instructions such as imperative (bossy) verbs and adverbs. We have also had a go at following instructions to plant our own lettuce seeds which are growing really well.

We have also been learning about programming, writing instructions for a computer. The children have been learning how to use Scratch which is a great free online resource that teaches children the basics of computer programming. We have been creating animations for knock knock jokes. All the children have been set up with a free account so they can save and share their creations, if your child would like to do this at home please send Miss Budden a message on Class Dojo and she can share their login details with you.

Sponsored Read

As part of our World Book Day celebrations we will be inviting all children to take part in a sponsored read, supported by Usborne and The Book barn. Children can either be sponsored a set amount or per minute they spend reading. All the money raised will go towards our school library and Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised. We will be launching this with children on the first Monday back after half term when they will bring home a letter explaining the sponsored read and prizes as well as their sponsor forms. On Friday 8th March Usborne and The Book barn will also be hosting a book fair in school that children and parents will be able to visit.
As World Book Day falls on a Thursday which is our PE day we will be dressing up as book characters on Tuesday 12th March. More information about all of our World Book Day plans will be shared after half term.

Little Angels

This week the children have been learning from The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, one of the favourites by the children! They have been learning about sea life, caring for our beaches, recycling and even doing a cleanup up walk around the village'
