Well done to all the children who took part in the Wilcombe wobbler this week. Especially to Jack who came third and Poppy who came 5th. All the children did really well and showed great sportsmanship.

Lateness
We have noticed quite a few children that are arriving after 9am each morning and wanted to take the opportunity to address this.
|
The DfE have made changes to the way that attendance is recorded this year and I wanted to make clear what we are now expected to do in regards to lateness. Children are expected to be in their classroom by 9am, children who arrive after this time (once the church gate is shut) receive a late mark. Children who arrive after registers close at 9:10am receive a mark to show that the student is on site, (U) but will count as an absent mark. The government threshold for penalty notices is 10 'U' marks, regardless of whether these have been given for lateness or other unauthorised absences. 10 minutes may not seem like much to miss but this can quickly add up, by the time a child has received 10 'U' marks for lateness they have missed 100 minutes of learning time.

Little Angels
The children have had a focus on a children’s choice and voice week. It’s a week where the staff spend majority of their time being with the children, listening to their views, following their lead, encouraging children to speak up, feel heard and valued. It is an important week where we slow down and go with the lead of the children, providing them with learning opportunities that come from them. It is an important week for everyone to work together, develop teamwork, kindness and learn about language to express emotions and communication skills. It is one of my favourite weeks of the term, as this develops those deep connections that help children feel safe and ready to learn.
