Fallow Class Roman Day

This week Fallow class had a Roman themed day. The children came to school dressed as Romans and they took part in three Roman themed activities. The first activity was building an edible road. They learnt the jobs of all the different parts of a Roman Road and then used similar edible parts and created their own roads in see-through pots. They were able to look at the road and see how clever the Romans were building the roads. The second activity was to make a Roman mosaic; the children thought about the different patterns and colours of a Roman mosaic and how they were made. The final activity was designing and making a Roman shield. We learnt about the jobs that the army did and how the shields helped them in battle, especially when making a tortoise! In addition, the children had a Roman styled buffet for lunch and enjoyed lounging on blankets and cushions while eating their lunch. The children were also introduced to roman numerals. The children had a fabulous day and were able to talk about what they had learnt! Good work Fallow soldiers!

Little Angels

The children have had a fantastic week learning all about the sea, using creative materials for lots of sea themed arts and crafts, getting stuck into messy play with water and sand, learning about the different creatures in the sea, exploring sea vehicles and also the layers of the sea! Basing our learning around our book of the week “ the rainbow fish” by Marcus Pfister.
